First run the Repository assistant:
Start button -> All Programs -> Oracle 11g Installation (Name) -> Warehouse Builder -> Administration -> Repository Assistant
Click on "Next".
Choose the database information where the workspace will be created. Click on "Next".
Choose the "Manage Warehouse Builder workspaces" option and click on "Next".
Choose the "Create a new Warehouse Builder workspace" option and click on "Next".
Choose the "Create a workspace with a new user as workspace owner" option and click on "Next".
I will use the default "system" user name. However, in the real life we can use another DBA user. Click on "Next".
The user (paul_DW in my case) must not exist. The workspace named paul_DW_WS will be created. Click on "Next".
I will not register a workspace user and I will click on "Next".
When the Summary page apears, click on "Finish". The following screen will apear at the end of the workspace creation:
Click on "OK".
At this time we are able to develop a data warehouse project, by connecting to this workspace:
Start button -> All Programs -> Oracle 11g Installation Name -> Warehouse Builder -> Design Center
The first time you are logging in, the "Recent Logon" line is not present and you must have more than 1 workspace to see that line.
You will see that a project is created automatically (MY_PROJECT). This name can be changed without problems. Here you are able to start designing a new data warehouse using OWB 11g ! Enjoy !
