Displaying Duplicate Member Names in Oracle Essbase Spreadsheet Add-in Release 11.1.1

Purpose

This tutorial covers how to display duplicate member names in Spreadsheet Add-in.

Overview

When you enable duplicate member names in an outline, Essbase displays the same name for two or more members and internally stores the names in a qualified format that differentiates the members. Spreadsheet Add-in provides methods to display the qualified names in your reports.

Prerequisites

Before starting this tutorial, you should:
1.
Have access to or have installed Spreadsheet Add-in.
2.
Have access to an Essbase database that contains duplicate names.
3.
Create a Spreadsheet Add-in report that includes duplicate names.
4.
Have an active connection to your duplicate-names database.

Displaying Qualified Member Names as Comments

Excel comments are displayed when you place your cursor over a cell that contains a comment indicator. When you enable the display option, Essbase creates Excel comments that contain qualified member names. Unlike standard Excel comments, which are cell-specific, Essbase-generated comments are member-specifc and move with members during ad hoc operations such as zoom in and pivot. To display the qualified name of duplicate members as Excel comments, perform the following steps:
1.
Select Essbase > Options.

The Options dialog box is displayed.

2.
Under Duplicate Members, select Show Qualified Member Names as Comment.
